Maggie Grace, Lockout (2012)
Anybody else automatically think Escape From New York after watching that first trailer?

Yes, I think Escape.  Lockout doesn’t seem very original, but at least it’s a new film with new characters about an old theme, not another remake.

  5. Chronicles of Riddick (2004)

Riddick in prison was the best part of this flawed film. The sequel will be released in 2013.

No Escape (1993) aka Escape from Absolom.
Robbins (Ray Liotta) is sent to prison for the assassination of his general officer.  After some troubles, he is sent to an island called “Absolom” where the worst prisoners are let lose to create an isolated barbaric society where the strongest men rule - a living hell.
The beginning of this film is interesting, but after that, it’s often boring (and that’s a problem for a b-movie).   For another story about a prison where the prisoners rule, see the third season of Prison Break.

  7. Fortress (1992), Stuart Gordon

In a dystopian future, John Henry Brennick (Christophe Lambert) and his wife are sent to a maximum security prison because they are expecting a second child, which is against strict one-child policies.

An entertaining b-movie.  The film is actually on youtube.

    Wedlock aka Deadlock (1991)
Frank (Rutger Hauer) has been convicted of stealing millions of dollars of diamonds which have not been recovered. In his experimental uni-sex prison, each inmate has an unknown partner; when the two are separated by more than 100 yards, an explosive collar kills both inmates. Frank and his female partner escape and head for the money, but they are hotly pursued by his double-crossing colleagues.
The full movie is available on youtube, in one video.  I didn’t see it yet, but from the reviews, it’s an entertaining b-movie.
With Rutger Hauer and Mimi Rogers (anecdote: she was the first wife of Tom Cruise in 87-90)
