    1. Jay: Why haven't I heard about this treaty? [a treaty between Earth and aliens]
    2. Kay: You probably have. Didn't you ever see a movie called "The Day the Earth Stood Still"? That was a documentary.
    3. Jay: A warning about atomic bombs hardly counts as a treaty.
    4. Kay: That was all we had at first, but we got a full-fledged treaty after we kicked their butts in the video war.
    5. Jay: Okay, I'll bite, what was the video war?
    6. Kay: Remember the video game craze a few years back? That was a computer simulated interstellar war. Space Invaders - How much more obvious can you get?
    7. Jay: Sounds like a bad Star Trek episode.

science&fiction: The original Men in Black comics, first series published in 1990-91.   In the comic, the Men in Black monitor and suppress paranormal activity on Earth (which includes aliens, demons, mutants, and other such being).    An agent will use any means necessary, including murder and destruction, to accomplish a mission.  (wikipedia)

  5. The Ultimates #3, 2002,

Nick Fury using Robert Downey Jr in a metaphor.

In 2002, the career of Downey seemed to go nowhere, because of his personal problems.   Nobody could have imagined that some years later, he would become one of the biggest stars of the cinematographic Marvel universe.

  6. The Ultimates #4 (2002), written by Mark Millar

Nick Fury says that Johnny Depp could play a convincing Tony Stark in a movie.

This is strange to read that now, after we have seen Robert Downey Jr. in the role.  The remark of the Wasp is particularly amusing: she thinks that Depp is not able to play an eccentric character!

For obvious reasons, we love this photo.
Just a reminder to go along with this wonderful piece of comics history, we’re still raising funds for our NYC gallery! http://kirbymuseum.org/popupcampaign

Jack Kirby’s work space.
Absolutely my favorite and most inspiring image I’ve seen in a while.
I love how unpretentious and no-bullshit it is. It’s a plain desk, with a plain chair and a plain side chair, all of which are beat up from use and covered in ink. It faces a corner, one that’s covered in unorganized comics. It’s inspiring to see the desk that held the home of creation for countless characters was so practical. Nothing fancy about it. Just a place to sit down, shut up and do the work.
